Why Hemlock?
Not to be confused with the highly poisonous Western water hemlock, Western hemlock fir provides the perfect balance between strength, weight and flexibility.
Hemlock's average dried weight is similar to POC.
From my own personal experience, hemlock will stand up to far more punishment than other commonly used woods, it also stays straighter for longer. Due to the nature of its grain structure, hemlock arrows tend to be much easier to repair if you do break one.

I have lost count of the times I have hit a tree thinking for sure that my arrow would be in pieces, to not only find it in one piece, but still straight.
Typically grown in North West America, Western hemlock fir is used regularly across America by traditional archers, but is yet to make much of an appearance in UK archery - something I intend to change.
